The Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to our country, Momtchil Raytchevski, visited today at noon the Multifunctional Youth Center "Free Travel" in the city of Durres.
In the meeting with the association's leader and project expert Prof. Doc. Shpend Shahini, the farmers and representatives of the participating schools of the project, was particularly interested in the work being done to involve young people in solving environmental and agricultural problems. The ambassador wished, that this example be followed by farms and other agricultural enterprises.
Miranda Mansaku, Executive Director briefed visitors on the Composting on Farm - For Mitigation of Climate Change project, which is funded by the Bulgarian Embassy in Tirana under the Official Development Assistance program aimed at improving the management cycle of waste, composting organic waste into schools and farms in Durres District. According to Mansak, the project will last 12 months and will directly involve 5 farms and 4 high schools in the city.
“A number of activities are planned during this period including implementation of farm composting protocol, government training of participating school students on environmental issues and issues and setting up Eco Clubs, informing young people and farmers about the importance of composting and using of biomass, ”she further said. Farmers will receive professional knowledge of new composting techniques and the possibilities of using it as part of the circulating economy on their farms.
