The Association "Udhëtim i Lirë - Liberia di Viaggiare" held today the closing meeting of the project "Composting on the farm for mitigation of climate changes", which is funded by the Bulgarian Embassy in our country and aims to improve the waste management cycle by composting organic waste in schools and farms of Durrës region.

The meeting was attended by the Bulgarian Ambassador, Momtchill Raytchevski, Attaché Maria Peeva, project coordinator and Executive Director of the association Miranda Mansaku, project expert Prof. Dr. Shpend Shahini, representatives of farms and schools in the city of Durrës, participating in the project.

During his speech, Ambassador Raytchevski considered this project very dear for its very purpose. "This project is very dear to me, because it aims to create a greener world," he said. Coordinator Mansaku analyzed in front of the audience the work done during a year within the project "Composting on the farm for mitigation of climate changes", which directly involved 5 farms and 4 high schools in the city.

"During this year, we have developed some activities that although the pandemic made it difficult but not impossible. 72 young people were trained on the composting process and a wider range of information on the environment and climate change in the world. 5 farmers were supported by the expert Shpend Shahini for the composting process and then the use of this fertilizer in greenhouse conditions, and the placement of differentiated bins in four high schools in Durrës, in the school "Ibrahim Kodra", in the school "Migjeni" , in the school "Mihal Ekonomi" and in the College "Eneida". The agreement for the project "Composting on the farm for mitigation of climate changes", between the association "Udhëtimi i Lirë" and the Bulgarian Embassy in Tirana was signed in January 2020.
