The workshop was held within the project "Communities Friendly to Children and Young People" which is funded by Visegrad Found and lead partner Children of Slovakia Foundation. The project is being implemented in 6 countries: Slovakia, Albania, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Ukraine.
The project aims to strengthen the position of children and young people as citizens of their local communities, supporting their rights and promoting their participation in local issues that affect their lives. At the same time, it aims to bring local actors - public authorities, civil society and children and young people themselves to a table to establish cooperation in order to increase their quality of life. In our project, we work with local communities and stakeholders to drive the necessary change. Good examples and initiatives exist in our region and we would like to build them to improve the situation and increase the quality of life of children and young people and their participation.
Participants (children and young people) in this workshop shared their experiences regarding the participation that children and young people have in local issues that directly affect their lives. Then divided into groups they discussed what needs to be improved and what is missing in their community. In the end, all together they decided on a hierarchical scale the issues they want to address and drew the relevant conclusions on the topics addressed.
The lecturers of the workshop Mrs. Cela and Mrs. Hoxhallari encouraged participants to properly address their requests at the local level. Mrs. Cela also help children and young people to clearly draft their requirements
