64 young people, students, and unemployed individuals from marginalized families in the outskirts of the city have been trained for almost three months within the framework of the project. “Youth Guide for Durrës”.

The project manager, Mira Mansaku, stated, "The Regional Program for Local Democracy in the Western Balkans, funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Municipality of Durrës, initially facilitated a 5-day training where various topics were covered, such as writing and interpreting guides, communication with tourists, creating sustainable itineraries, taking professional photos and videos, and tourist safety. In this way, the young people, divided into three groups, received the necessary information from the trainers to implement the guides in practice."

In addition to the archaeological sites in the city of Durrës, the young people conducted study tours in Cape Rodon, Ishëm, Shën Vlash, and Porto Romano, where they were introduced to other tourist attractions that attract the attention of tourists, such as: the Castle of Skanderbeg, the Church of Rodon, the Castle of Ishëm, the burial site of Ibrahim Kodra, as well as the ancient surrounding walls in Porto Romano, added the director of the "Udhëtim i Lirë – Liberi di Viaggiare" association.

After the training, participantsësit undertook internships with several tourism operators in the city, such as hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, and various cultural institutions and monuments of the city, including: the Ethnographic Museum, the Archaeological Museum, and the ancient Amphitheater.

"The young people continue working on preparing the spots and the Tourist Guide based on the impressions and notes collected during the group visits," concluded Miranda Mansaku.
