EDEN is a cross-border cooperation project designed to regenerate neglected or underused urban and peri-urban spaces by transforming them into sustainable, community-driven urban farms. Through a coordinated effort among partners in Italy, Albania, and Montenegro, the project aims to promote biodiversity, strengthen ecological resilience, and foster a culture of environmental responsibility among citizens—especially young people.
The project’s objectives include developing detailed urban space analyses, designing and implementing pilot urban farms equipped with low-impact technologies, and creating a shared cross-border strategy for biodiversity enhancement and climate-responsive urban agriculture. EDEN also promotes environmental education through youth-focused training programs, community workshops, and participatory planning activities. By combining ecological restoration, social innovation, and capacity building, the project seeks to establish a scalable model of urban farming that can be replicated across the South Adriatic region and beyond.
